I needed some masculine cards - Father's Day, friend's birthday and a thinking of you card. I saw a card on http://sparkledaisy.com/ (May 15) and adapted it to fit my needs and supplies on hand.

I even stamped the envelope for the birthday card!

I also wanted to send a little note to a wonderful lady I met in Florida and I wanted to ink up the wheel chose in my Starter Kit - Baroque Border - I came up with this. I already had the image stamped from when I made the Mother's Day boxes of cards.

I have not been stamping the last few days, however I did take delivery of my Stampin Up! order on Monday so I decided to make these little post it note pad holders to give as a token of my appreciation. I am my own best customer so I guess I better make one for myself! LOL

They are so cute but only take a few minutes to put together. Got the idea from Angie at Chic n Scratch http://chicnscratch.typepad.com/chic_n_scratch/

Amendment

Just realized that I gave the wrong measurement for the Note Card Box in my post earlier today - I cut the CS to 8" by 11" (in my notes below I said I had cut it to 7 1/2 by 11. The finished box was 6 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches high and 1 inch deep. It held 6 cards and their envelopes.

Mother's Day

My DH is still not well so one of my sons (the other one has to work) and I are going for brunch with my parents and 2 of my sisters. On an earlier post I showed the note cards I made for both mothers. Here is the bag I made to put the box of cards in. It is made from a paper lunch bag! Stamps - Embrace Life; CS - Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla; DP - Ginger Blossom; Inks - Chocolate Chip, Old Olive; Ribbon - Non SU; White paper lunch bag. I stamped the large flower from Embrace Life onto the Cameo Coral CS and then watercoloured with Ruby Red Ink.

I also made little boxes of cards for two of my sisters. They are not mums, but they are godmothers to my sons. Just a little token of appreciation. I used the tart and tangy stamp set. I followed the instructions from a class designed by Andrea Walford http://andreawalford.com/ and the box is adapted from one I have shown before http://stampedbyhand.blogspot.com/2007/09/note-box-my-first-tutorial.html. My adjustment to the box was to cut the CS to 7 1/2" by 11" and the DSP to 6" by 6 1/2". All supplies Stampin Up! unless noted. CS - Wild Wasabi, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Whisper White, Old Olive, Bashful Blue; DSP - Summer Picnic; Inks - Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Basis Black; Ribbons - non SU.

It has been a busy couple of weeks

I have not been posting for the last few weeks. My DH has not been well, but I have still been stamping and making cards. I decided I would make boxes of note cards for both my mother and mother in law. After several attempts I settled on a box that I felt was sturdy and would hold at least six cards - it takes 12! The box itself takes uses a 12" x 12" sheet of cardstock and the top takes uses an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet. Then I had to make the cards. I wanted simple and something that would coordinate with the colours of the box (pink top, white bottom). Here are the two card designs I decided to use. Note to self - get an easel!

The first card used the butterfly stamp from the SU Merci set. I used non SU markers (pale pink) and then coloured over using my blender pen and SU Purely Pomegranate Ink. The pink card stock is non SU. I used the CB Perfectly Paisley embossing folder. I also used Whisper White and Purely Pomegrante Cardstock. I then 'glitterfied' the butterly with Stickles.

The second card uses stamps from the Heartfelt Thanks set. I am finding this to be an incredibly versatile set. I used Whisper White and Purely Pomegranate card stock. The WW was embossed with the CB Swiss Dots folder. Inks used were Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi and Basic Black.

I don't have a photo of the box yet - I think it needs to be embellished a bit - not too sure.

I also had fun this week making a peek a boo card for my sister in law. She will be celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas so I could not resist adapting a card I saw that looks like a slot machine to a peek a boo card. I saw a video tutorial at http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com/dawns_stamping_thoughts/2008/02/peek-a-boo-card.html for the peek a boo card, and the slot machine theme from TMDMom on Splitcoaststampers. All SU Products. CS - Basic Black, Whisper White, Basic Gray, Almost Gray. Tart & Tangy and It's Your Birthday stamp sets. Inks - Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Only Orange and Glorious Green. Used CB Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. Also used the 1 3/8 square punch. I think I should have used some acetate between the images and the black frame - Oh well! Hope you like.

She's a winner!

What a lot of fun this was to make and then to have it actually work!

I also made a couple of onesies using Lauren Meader's turorial p://laurenm.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2008/02/05/create-your-own-onesie-card-tutorial-and-important-note-please-read/ . I actually did a mini workshop with my friend Judy to show her how to do them. I have a cousin who is determined not to know the sex of the baby until it is born, so I made one with pink and one with blue. Cardstock, inks and DSP all Stampin Up!. I also used some stickles. Just noticed I did not put on the little buttons at the bottom - I forgot to order the Soft Subtles brads. Used Whisper White, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink. A little bit of Soft Sky ink - I opened my box of Soft Subtles Stampin Spots and there was no Bashful Blue (there were 2 Pale Plum). Called Stampin Up! and not to worry, they sent a replacement box which just now arrived. Used the So Many Scallops stamp set and the scallop punch. I think I will redo the blue one now that I have the Bashful Blue Stampin Spot.

Yesterday afternoon my friend Judy and I had our own little workshop. Just the two of us - we are hoping to do this every week.

We made a card using the Pick a Petal set from Stampin Up and then made a box that will hold about 4 cards and their envelopes. The box was made using just one sheet of card stock (8 1/2 by 11) and a piece of DSP (6 1/2 by 6). We used Wild Wasabi card stock and DSP from the Summer Picnic collection. We followed the tutorial posted by Joanne B. the only change we made was to increase the dimension of the DSP. Rather than the 4 X 6 1/2 in the instructions, we cut it to 6 1/2 x 6. Here is a BD card I made - the bears are by PSX, but the rest is all Stampin Up. I used Dazzling Diamonds on the cake (from the Bitty Birthday Set). I stamped the bears with Chocolate Chip onto Creamy Caramel then shaded in a bit. Even did a bit of paper piercing on the scallop.

Catching Up

I have been putting my stamps to good use this week. I have made all of my April birthday cards and even have my mother's day cards done! I CASE'd from posts found on Splitcoast and am amazed at the creativity out there. All of the different, beautiful cards using the Embrace Life set from Stampin Up have given me ideas that should last a long time. The versatality of the set is unbelievable! Stampinjudy posted this on Splitcoast - I tried her technique using the scallops punch for the corners. I had to adapt as I do not have the SU markers yet. Rather than stamping the flower on vanilla, I stamped it on Cameo Coral and then highlighted (tried anyway) with purely pomegranate and my blender pen. Used some stickles and a clear rhinestone to add a bit of glitz.

This card is also using the Embrace Life set. It is my version of the one posted by Julie Buhler for her colour challenge (JCC09). I adapted it a bit, but am pretty pleased with the result. I bought the Voila and Voila to Go sets and finally got them mounted and ready to use. Looked through my stock of papers (pre Stampin Up) and found some decorative papers I could use up. I also found a spool of ribbon that coordinated. All bought at Michael's over the years. I had an email from a friend who was going to be cooking a turkey dinner and it inspired me to make this card.

These two cards are using the Merci set (SAB) and were inspired by a design I saw on the Stampin Up Website.

Heartfelt Thanks

I have been a "collector" of rubber stamps for a number of years and although I have used some of them, the collection is growing larger each day. Now that I am retired and have more time (or so I thought) I am hoping to put my collection to good use.

This is my first upload and the first card I have made using the Heartfelt Thanks set from Stampin Up.
