Simply MDS Challenge - Week 3

The week 3 challenge (week of December 17) featured two colouring tools available in Simply My Digital Studio 2.  For solid images the recolour tool is available to change the colour of portions of the stamped image.  Four outline images the Freeform tools allows you to colour in your image.

Snowman - I used the recolour tool to colour the nose, buttons and arms.  I used the freeform colouring tool to colour in the hatband.

Jolly Christmas - I used the recolour tool to colour the wreath and the freeform tool to colour in the berries on the wreath.

Simply MDS Challenge - Week 2

The techniques Kimberly and Heather featured in the week 2 challenge (week of December 10) was cropping embellishments and stamps.  It is so great to have this feature available.  Sometimes there is only part of a stamp that you really want to use - now the unwanted portion can be cropped out.  The same for embellishments - maybe you only want a short row of stitching.  You can crop the stitching to the length you want.

Simply MDS Challenges - Hosted by Heather Summers and Kimberly VanDiepen

A few weeks ago Heather Summers and Kimberly VanDiepen put their heads together and came up with a plan for weekly My Digital Studio Challenges.  Each week they post a challenge on their blogs (with a video) covering some of the new features in My Digital Studio.  They have also set up a Facebook so participants have a place to post and share their pages.

The week one challenge (week of December 3) featured using multiple photo boxes for one photo.  A very fun technique - check out the video on Heather's blog HERE.

For my page I used a family photo taken when we celebrated my mother-in-law's 90th birthday at the end of November.

Frame - Christmas Collage

I am enrolled in another online My Digital Studio Class - 30 Days of Christmas - hosted by Heather Summers and her friend Martha Inchley.  The yesterday's project (Day 16) was a shadow box frame.  I didn't have that type of frame on hand, but I had purchased a collage frame at Michael's a few days ago so I decided I would use that for my project.

I used My Digital Studio to create each of the inserts for the frame and then started embellishing.  The stitched felt pieces are now retired (too bad because I really loved them).  I used some rhinestone (coloured with sharpie markers); punches; a faceted button; a large half pearl and a bit of glimmer paper.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by.

My Digital Studio

I signed up for another of Heather Summers' online My Digital Studio classes.  One of the projects was subway art.  The class sample was all done using text boxes with different fonts.  I decided to give it a try using only stamp brush sets from the Jolly Jingles download.  I took advantage of the new colouring tool in My Digital Studio 2.

I'm going to print this and frame it - not sure if I will use and 8 x 10 frame (perhaps I will reduce it to 5 x 7).

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

A My Digital Studio Page

I am participating in another of Heather Summers' online classs dedicated to My Digital Studio.  You should check it out HERE.  Heather is sharing all kinds of tips and tricks, there are videos, participants post their projects.

This is my page for Day 5 of the class.  It was a lot of work - kind of reminded me of the days when I was doing some counted cross stitch.

Two More Cards

Both of these cards use papers from the retired My Sweet Pea paper stack.  I need to get those used up but they seem to last forever!

Both cards were inspired by ones I had seen on a website only accessible to Stampin' Up! demonstrators so I can't link to you to them.  There's not very much stamping but I am really pleased with the way they turned out.  I even used some of my carefully hoarded ribbon, buttons and brads!

I Stamped!

Lately I haven't been stamping much but I have done a few birthday cards.  The card I am posting today uses the stamp sets The Open Sea, French Foliage and Word Play.  I saw the card on Teneale Williams' blog recently and thought it would make a perfect card for my nephew who is embarking on a new career path.  You can see the original by clicking HERE.

Thanks for stopping by.

I'm Back

It's been a long time since I posted anything of my own.  I hope you have enjoyed the videos I have shared over the past couple of months.

I'm not doing much stamping but I have been participating in Heather Summers' My Digital Studio Made Simple online class and I will be sharing some of the pages I have made on this blog.  That class has ended but it is not too late to sign up - the classroom site will be open until the end of August so there is still access to all the videos, layouts, tips and tricks that Heather shared.

A new class starts tomorrow - check Heather's blog for details about both classes HERE.

So on to my share for today.  This was the layout from Day 1 of the class.  The tip shared this day was how to colour in the paper daisies embellishment using drop shadows.

Taking a Break

I am taking a break from posting for the next few months. There may be an occasional one but that will be all.

Hopefully I can get back to my blog in the spring.

Thanks for visiting.
