My Paper Pumpkin - July 2017

The July Paper Pumpkin was called Positively Picturesque.  I haven't yet made any of the cards as shown in the kit instructions but I have made one alternative card.  I saw the card posted on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club Facebook group that I belong to and knew I had to copy it.  It did tweak it a tiny bit (I added the sun and the layer of patterned paper).

Supplies from the kit are the watercolour wash piece, the sunburst stamp and the patterned paper.

The watercolour wash piece was cropped from a note card included in the kit; the patterned paper was cropped from the inside of one of the card envelopes also included in the kit.

Carols of Christmas

Carols of Christmas is a new stamp set that will be available on August 1, 2017.  It was made available to Stampin' Up! Demonstrators on July 1 and I had to have it!  There is also a set of thinlits dies that coordinate with the stamp set.

I found THIS card on Pinterest and loved that it used the Wood Textures DSP for the background.

The only thing I changed from the original was to use a piece of Burlap Ribbon in place of the Washi Tape used by the originator.  I am really happy with the look.

Note the little sprig of greenery - it is a little piece cut from on the Boxwood Wreath Embellishments on page 197 of the Annual Catalogue.

Inky Divas Weekly Challenge - Week of July 24

This week's challenge was to create a Sympathy card.  I usually have a couple of them on hand "just in case" but I had used them all.

Looking through my stamps I decided on the Flouring Flourishes stamp set and the coordinating Flourish Thinlits for my card.  I really liked the font used for the sentiment.  I also pulled out the retired Gorgeous Grunge to add a little bit of subtle background.

Wood Textures Designer Series Paper

In the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! annual catalogue there is a beautiful selection of "pretty" designer series papers but there is also a stack of more masculine papers.  The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.  This pack includes 4 each of 12 double-sided designs - perfect for use on masculine cards.

Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack
I am going to need several masculine birthday cards over the next few months so I started scanning Pinterest for cards using this wonderful DSP.

In addition to the DSP, this card uses the Happy Birthday thinlit.  I cut two and stuck them together to make it a little thicker.  Next time I think I may layer three of the diecuts.  I also used the now retired Woodgrain Textured Embossing folder.  In the catalogue there is a new embossing folder that could be used - Pinewood Planks.

I like to "decorate" the inside of the card to coordinate with the front.

Daisy Delight

I am still determined to use as much of my retired Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers as I can.  For this card I used a sheet from the Serene Scenery Paper Stack and teamed it up with the Daisy Delight Stamp Set.  I had seen THIS card on Pinterest and knew I wanted to CASE it.  I made a few changes - I used Gold Glimmer Paper for the centres of the daisies and added a layer of Early Espresso card stock behind the DSP panel.

I used Crumb Cake ink to stamp the flowers (stamped off once) and before punching them out I sponged on So Saffron ink.

Inside of the card.

Inky Diva's Challenge - Week of July 17, 2017

Crystal posted a sketch for this week's challenge

No automatic alt text available.

We were to follow the sketch as best we could and use current Stampin' Up! products.  I made my card and after finishing it discovered that although the stamp set Flurry of Wishes had carried over to the annual catalogue the coordinating punch did not.  I thought about stamping the snowflakes again and cutting them out but quickly discarded that idea - I do NOT like fussy cutting

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Flurry of Wishes
Ink - Island Indigo, Pool Party
Card Stock - Whisper White, Silver Foil

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of July 10, 2017

The challenge for the week of July 10 was to create a project using one of the Stampin' Up! layering stamp sets.  I chose to use Watercolor Wings.  I stamped two butterflies.  For the first layer I used Pool Party Ink, the second with Bermuda Bay and the third with Island Indigo.  I then die cut them using the Butterfly and Bold Butterfly thinlits.

Edit - July 31.  I have submitted this card for the Freshly Made Sketches #298 - HERE

Butterflies Thinlits

When I was playing around making a card for last week's Inky Divas Challenge I made a card using the Watercolour Wings thinlits.  It was a pretty quick card - I did the diecut and then fit it back into the "negative" space.

Inky Diva's Challenge Week of July 3, 2017

This week's challenge was to use one of the Stampin' Up! thinlits dies.  I did a couple of cards using the Butterfly thinlits but I decided to use the card made with the Happy Birthday thinlit for my entry.

I have been on a mission to use up some of my retired Stampin' Up! products so I pulled out my Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper and cut several 1/2" strips..I adhered those strips onto a piece of cardstock and then cut out the Happy Birthday.  I adhered more strips to another piece of cardstock and used that as a background piece.
