Masculine Card 2

Recent cards posted by Angela McKay have been great Masculine cards.  I have CASEd two of them to fill the request I received to make some masculine birthday cards.

This is the first of those two cards

You can see Angela's card here http://www.northshorestamper.com/2013/06/going-to-graduation.html.  Angela used an embossing folder and Coredinations card stock which I don't have so I used my chevron embossing folder.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Banner Greetings (Hostess)
Ink - Summer Starfruit
Card Stock - Riding Hood Red (retired), Summer Starfruit, Basic Grey, Neutrals DSP pack (retired)
Other - Chevron Embossing folder, Adorning Accents edgelits, Summer Starfruit ribbon, Basic Grey brad (retired)

Masculine Card

I was asked if I could make some Masculine cards and when I saw Nancy Riley's card featuring the Sale a Bration set Feeling Sentimental (now retired) I decided to CASE her card.  You can find Nancy's card by clicking the link http://stampinat6213.blogspot.ca/2013/06/now-that-im-on-summer-break-from-work.html.

Nancy was inspired by carcs posted by Rita Wright and Julie Davison

I  don't have the First Edition DSP (also now retired) but I do have the digital download and had printed a sheet of it several weeks ago.

I love the bicycle image.  I stamped it full strength and then without re-inking I stamped it twice more.  LOVE it!  I don't have any designer series papers with chevrons, but I did received this month's My Paper Pumpkin kit and it has a chevron stamp so I stamped that onto Very Vanilla card stock and then cut it out using the Banner die from the Hearts a Flutter Framelits set.  I also cut one from some Early Espresso card stock.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Feeling Sentimental (retired)
Ink - Soft Suede, Early Espresso
Card Stock - Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP (printed from My Digital Studio)
Other - Linen Thread, Neutrals button (retired), Hearts a Flutter Framelits

Inky Divas - Creative Challenge - Week of June 24

The challenge for this week was to use new stamps, punches/dies, colours and to follow the sketch provided.  For this card the sketch fell by the wayside but I did use a lot of new products.

This is the sketch:

I used the Flower Shop bundle that includes the Flower Shop stamp set and coordinating Pansy Punch.  The ink and card stock colours are all part of the new InColours collection.

I CASEd a beautiful design by Mary Brown for this card.  I love the red, black and grey that Mary used but I am very pleased with my colours too.  My card measures 5 x 5.

Ink - Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding Marker
Card Stock - Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White

Daffodil Delight

Recently Nancy Riley posted a couple of cards she had made using Daffodil Delight.  I tend to shy away from bright colours so I decided to CASE a couple of Nancy's cards.

You can see her post by clicking on this link - http://stampinat6213.blogspot.ca/2013/06/summer-caseing.html.

This is the first of the two cards I CASEd - it doesn't show well in the photo but I added little dots of Dazzling Details on the flowers.  Nancy's card was a square, but mine is a standard 5.5" x 4.25".  Nancy's inspiration was a card posted by Mary Brown - here is the link http://stampercamper.com/?p=1902

Supplies
Stamp Set - Summer Silhouettes, Express Yourself (Hostess Set)
Ink - Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White (craft)

Weekly Creative Challenge - Inky Divas - Card 2

I made a second card using this week's colour challenge - Soft Sky, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise.  I forgot to bookmark the source for this card.

I really like the Soft Sky card stock, but the ink just does not show up as well as I would like it to.  I used the Label Love and coordinating Artisan Label punch as well as A Round Array and the 7/8" scallop circle punch.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Label Love, A Round Array
Ink - Rich Razzleberry, Soft Sky, Tempting Turquoise
Card Stock - Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Sky, Tempting Turquoise
Other - Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine, Artisan Label punch, 7/8" scallop circle punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Brights Buttons (retired)

Weekly Creative Challenge - Inky Divas

This week's challenge was to use the colours Soft Sky, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise.  I don't use a lot of the Brights colours, however I had seen a card on Pinterest that would be great using these colours.

Here are the challenge colours

InColour Butterflies

I saw THIS card on Pinterest and liked that it used all of the new InColours and the brand new Smoky Slate.  I had purchased the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and coordinating punch a few months ago, but hadn't really used them yet so this was a perfect opportunity to get to work with them.

I copied it as posted.  I used a different butterfly stamp and didn't have the Stampin' Up! doilies but other than that it is the same.

Supplies
Stamps - Papillon Potpourri,  Banner Greetings (Hostess)
Ink - Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush
Card Stock - Whisper White, Basic Black, Smoky Slate
Other - Fan Fair Embossing folder, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Glue Dots, Paper Doily (nonSU)

Clockworks

I don't own the Stamp Set Clockworks, however I did get the digital download when it was first released.  Until a day or two ago I forgot I even had it until I was browsing on Stampin' Connection (a site available only to Stampin' Up! demonstrators) and saw a number of cards using the stamp set.

I got to work in My Digital Studio and came up with this hybrid card

I had to resize the images (in MDS they are quite big).  I measured each element shown in the catalogue (fortunately all the stamp images in the catalogue are actual size) and placed them randomly on my page.  For the base card I coloured the images with Early Espresso and printed it out onto Crumb Cake card stock.  The focal image was printed onto photo paper (matte).  After cutting it to the size I wanted I matted it onto a piece of Summer Starfruit card stock and then onto some Midnight Muse that had been embossed with the Houndstooth embossing folder.  I used one of the stamps from Teeny Tiny Wishes for the greeting and punched it out with the Modern Label punch.

Supplies
My Digital Studio - Clockworks Stamp Brush Set
Card Stock - Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit
Stamp Set - Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink - Early Espresso
Other - Modern Label Punch, Houndstooth Embossing folder, Stampin' Dimensionals

Weekly Creative Challenge - Inky Divas

This is the fourth week of creative challenges in the Inky Divas group.  There was a sketch provided and the challenge was to use NEW stamps and tools from the new Idea Book & Catalogue.  A bit of a stretch for me as I had not yet ordered any stamps other than a few "Word" stamps.  The challenge was posted on Monday and my order was scheduled to arrive on Thursday.

This is the sketch

I decided not to make a card - I did a little notebook.  I had seen the notebook idea on Becky Roberts' blog a while back and followed her instructions for the booklet and then followed the sketch for the decoration.  You can see Becky's notebook HERE.

Supplies
Stamp - A Dozen Thoughts (new)
Ink - Island Indigo
Card Stock - Pacific Point, Pistachio Pudding, Tangerine Tango, Venetian Romance DSP (printed from My Digital Studio)
Other - Artisan Label Punch (new), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pak (flower), Rhinestone, 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon - Whisper White (retired)

My Digital Studio Challenge - Freeform Zig Zag Lines

The challenge posted this week was to use the Freeform tool in My Digital Studio and the new Happy Life Hostess download.  You can see the challenge on Heather Summers' blog by clicking HERE.  You can see Kimberly VanDiepen's layout HERE

Rather than doing a 12 x 12 layout I decided to create a cover for a notepad.  I basically copied Heather's layout although I did use different Designer Papers from the Happy Life download.  I recoloured some of the papers.  The word note and the little saying below it are from the Back to School download.  I used various embellishments - some recoloured (I LOVE that feature in MDS).  I printed it out, cut it to fit and adhered it to my note pad.

I got the notepads at the dollar store (Dollarama) - 3 in a package for $1.25.

Simply Sent Card Kit

During Sale a Bration I was fortunate to earn a few free products and one of my choices was the Happy Hello Simply Sent Card Kit.  The kit contains everything needed to make 8 cards.  Four of the cards had a greeting already printed on them.  There were self adhesive die cuts, rhinestones, baker's twine and even coordinating envelopes.

This is the first card I made with it's matching envelope.  The Hello was already printed on it so all I had to do was add the die cuts, the twine and the rhinestone.  Easy peasy!

For the second card I used one of the cards that did not have a greeting.  I cut it in half, added my embellishments and then adhered it to a basic grey card base.  I adhered the plain half to the inside of the card.  The greeting is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set.

Thanks for stopping in.  Have a great day!

BDay Under Construction

A while back Heather Summers posted a layout she had created in MDS using the BDay Under Construction download.  Click HERE to have a look.  I purchased the download and then decided I would give Heather's layout a try for some of the photos from my mother-in-law's 90th birthday last November.  I kept to Heather's layout, but changed the colours and DSP used.  Love that feature in MDS.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Fabulous Florets

Finally I am happy with my card!  I saw THIS card and started from there.

I made this card yesterday and kept looking at it thinking I like it but there's something wrong.  I decided I was not toally happy with the banner - well the stamping on the banner to be exact.  I had inked up the stamp with Versamark and then lightly tapped it onto my Calypso Coral ink pad, stamped it onto the vellum card stock, sprinkled on clear embossing powder and then heat set it.  I liked it but felt the greeting just did not show up very well.  I tried stamping the greeting with various colours and finally settled on black.

Supplies
Stamps - Fabulous Florets, Friendly Phrases (retired), Fresh Vintage (retired)
Ink - Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Versamark, Basic Black
Card Stock - Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Vellum Card Stock
Other - Whisper White Satin Ribbon (retired), Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Basic Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank You

I saw this card and really liked it but I didn't have the stamp sets used.  I really liked the idea of the jar as a flower vase and regretted not buying that stamp set when it was available but then I remembered that I had purchased the digital download.  MDS to the rescue!

I printed the jar image onto Crumb Cake card stock and stamped the leaves from Fabulous Florets in Old Olive.  The flowers are from the Pretties Kit (retired but on the clearance rack).  The centres of the flowers are retired Epoxy Brads.

There is new product on the card as well - I used the Label Love stamp set and Artisan Punch (can be purchased separately or as a bundle).  I also used the stamp set A Round Array and the coordinating 7/8" scallop circle punch.  A little bit of Daffodil Delight 1/8" taffeta ribbon (retired), some distressing and the card was done!

Supplies
My Digital Studio - Perfectly Preserved Stamp Brush
Card Stock - Crumb Cake
Stamps - Fabulous Florets, A Round Array, Label Love
Ink - Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Whisper White Craft (retired?)
Other - Artisan Label and 7/8" Scallop Circle punches, Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon (retired), Pretties Kit (retired but available on Clearance Rack), Distressing Tool, Stampin' Dimensionals, Epoxy Brads (retired)

Thanks for stopping by.

2013 - 2015 InColours

This card features all of the five new InColours.  Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush.  I CASEd a card Heather Summers posted a while back.  Heather did some machine stitching on her card, but I haven't yet made that step.

I only pre-ordered the bundle that included card stock and ink so I improvised to give the effect of designer series paper.

Using Versamark ink I stamped the Dot, Dot, Dot stamp (retired) onto both Coastal Cabana and Pistachio Pudding card stock.  I also used one of the stamps from Hearts a Flutter and stamped it onto Whisper White using the Baked Brown Sugar ink.  I coloured one of the large rhinestones with a sharpie - the colour is not as close to Coastal Cabana as I would like it to be.

Supplies
Card Stock - Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Stamps - Hearts a Flutter, Express Yourself (Hostess Seet), Dot, Dot, Dot (retired), Punch Posies (retired)
Ink - Baked Brown Sugar, Versamark, Crumb Cake
Other - Apothecary Accents Framelits, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Heart Sizzlit (retired), Heart to Heart punch (retired), Large Rhinestone, Basic Rhinestones, Stampin' Dimensionals

MDS Challenge - #SMDSSK3

Each Monday Kimberly VanDiepen and Heather Summers post a My Digital Challenge on their blogs.  This is week 28.  Kimberly posted a sketch and when I saw it I knew I wanted to create a card rather than a scrapbook page.   I needed a card for a friend and wanted to use one of the sayings in the Be Yourself digital kit.  I created the card front following the sketch and then printed it onto Matte Photo Paper, trimmed it to the size I wanted and adhered it to the Rich Razzleberry card base.

This is my card

Supplies
Card Stock - Rich Razzleberry; Matte Photo Paper
My Digital Studio - Be Yourself Kit, Sycamore Street embellishments (ribbon recoloured to Rich Razzleberry), Rich Razzleberry Baker's Twine, Bookstagram Kit (arrow)

Here is the sketch
