Simply Thank You - Project 4

The fourth day of the Heather Summers' Simply Thank You online class featured the stamp set Tart and Tangy as well as the Simply Scrappin' kit Cool Kids.  I do have the stamp set, but not the Simply Scrappin' kit.  I thought about what papers I had on hand that I could use with Tart and Tangy and immediately thought of Summer Picnic (retired).

By the time I sat down to make my card I decided to use WOW Flowers instead of Tart and Tangy.  The card is another 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 project.  It uses lots of embellishments.  I am not sure I have ever used this many buttons and brads in one week let alone on one card!  I also used 5 different punches on this card.

Supplies (al Stampin' Up!)
Stamp Set - WOW Flowers (retiring at the end of June)
Card Stock - Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Summer Picnic DSP (retired)
Ink - Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Other - Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Brads, various buttons, dimensionals
Punches - 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 circle; large oval, wide oval and scallop oval

Happy First Birthday!

I saw THIS card on Jackie Topa's blog early in June and thought it would be a fun card to make.  I was doing a little bit of tidying in my stamp room one day and found a punched monkey face in my "scraps heap" so I decided now would be the time to CASE Jackie's card.  It was great timing because it was just before Judy's grandson's first birthday.  Last year for the baby shower I had helped Judy make a diaper cake to fit in with the safari theme.  I had made some monkeys, elephants, giraffes and lions using Stampin' Up! punches to decorate the cake.  The monkey I found was a leftover from that so it just seemed right to use it for the birthday card.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Tropical Party
Card Stock - Early Espresso, Old Olive, Naturals Ivory, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink - Old Olive, Rose Red, Close to Cocoa
Other - Hemp Twine, Texture Plate for the Big Shot

Simply Thank You - Project 3

The third project Heather presented in her Simply Thank You class is a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 card featuring the retiring Warm Words stamp set and several of the colours from the new Subtles collection.  For the image panel Heather used  the Trio Flower punch (also retiring) to punch out multiple flowers in her chosen colours.  She then adhered them to the card stock and embellished with brads.

I love stamping as well as punched projects but I knew today was not going to be one of those days where I had the patience to complete the card as it was presented.  I did follow the card layout, but rather than having the lovely bouquet of punched flowers on the main panel I used a single image from Awash with Flowers.  I used colours from the subtles collection, Warm Words and a Barely Banana brad (both the stamp set and the brads are retiring at the end of June).

Supplies
Stamp Set - Awash with Flowers, Warm Words (retiring)
Card Stock - Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
Ink - Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Basis Black (ink pad and marker)
Other - Barely Banana Brad (retiring), Dimensionals

CASE'd Awash with Flowers

Heather Summers posted THIS card a while back and as soon as I received the Island Oasis DSP from the Summer Mini Catalogue I made the card and then forgot to take a picture so I could post it here.  The card features my favourite Awash with Flowers card (I hope you're not tired of seeing it because I a not tired of using it!).  I didn't put a greeting on it - I won't do that until I decide what occasion I will be using it for.  I think it would make a bright and fun Hello card for someone!

Supplies
Stamp Set - Awash with Flowers
Card Stock - Rose Red, Old Olive, Island Oasis DSP
Ink - Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red, Basic Black
Other - Line Thread, Buttons (Playground)

Simply Thank You - Project 2

The second project Heather presented featured the Season of Friendship stamp set along with the red epoxy brads that were featured in the last Occasions Mini catalogue.  Unfortunately these brads did not make into the new catalogue.  I do have those brads, but decided to use buttons instead.  They are from the Fresh Favourites II collections that will be retiring at the end of June.

To simulate leaves on the tree I used the medallion stamp from the Charming set (Heather used a stamp from Trendy Trees on her sample).

Supplies
Stamp Set - Season of Friendship, Charming, Thank You Kindly
Card Stock - Kraft (soon to be known as Crumb Cake), Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke DSP (from the retired Patterns Pack I)
Ink - Soft Suede, Always Artichoke
Other - Buttons (Fresh Favorites II), Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Corner Rounder punch

My card today showcases the stamp set Because I Care a Level 1 Hostess Set in the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue that will be released on July 1st.  It is a case of Jo-Ann Pullen's card HERE.  You should check out her blog - her creations are amazing!

The floral image is stamped on Confetti Cream card stock with Early Espresso Ink.  It is coloured in with Baja Breeze.  The leaves are coloured in with Wild Wasabi.  The faux stitching was done with Early Espresso.

I decided not to colour in the stamped image on the inside of the card and I am very please with the result.

Supplies
Card Stock - Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Confetti Cream
Ink - Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi

Simply Stamping Thank You - Project 1

As a thank you to her customers, including those who purchase her online classes, Heather Summers has created a special online class - Simply Stamping Thank You.  There will be 10 different projects over a course of 10 days.

The project Heather presented for Day 1 - featured Playground Buttons (retiring on June 30) and Island Oasis DSP (from the current mini catalogue).   I didn't have enough of the tempting turquoise buttons so I also used some of my Itty Bitty buttons (featured in the current mini catalogue and available in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue).

I wish my camera had been working better - I assure the card looks much better in person!  I don't know if you can see - there are lines of piercing going fron the top of the card to the buttons (raindrops?).

Supplies
Stamp Set - Sincere Salutations
Card Stock - Tempting Turquoise, Island Oasis DSP
Ink - Basic Black

I am still not tired of Awash with Flowers

If you hadn't already figured it out - I LOVE this stamp set!  I am still finding beautiful samples of cards using the set and I just can't help CASE'ing them.

I had seen a card on Stampin' Connection (unfortunately the contributor did not post her blog address) a couple of days ago and decided that it had to be one of the projects for Judy and I to do together.

I decided to use Pretty in Pink card stock and satin ribbon.  The original featured both of those in Bashful Blue.  I love the simplicity of the card - the polka dot textured backgroud and the clear rhinestone brad give just a little something extra without overpowering the image.

After inking up the solid image with pretty in pink, I used my melon mambo marker on part of the edges.  I did the same on the leaves (solid image inked with certainly celery and then highlighted with old olive).  The image panel is adhered with dimensionals.

Hope you like it!

Stamp Set - Awash with Flowers
Card Stock - Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink - Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Basic Black, Melon Mambo (marker), Old Olive (marker)

Awash with Orchid

Orchid Opulence is one of the colours that will retire are the end of June - I have rarely used it and even more rarely as the main colour on a card.  I was scrolling through some of the cards posted by fellow SU demonstrator's on our exclusive forum Stampin' Connection.  I saw many cards that I know I will want to CASE, but I was particularly drawn to a card posted by Jodie Olver.  Jodie's blog is one I visit fairly regularly - she is one of Heather Summers' downline.  You can see Jodie's card HERE.

My card is a direct copy of Jodie's although I did try out my colour spritzer tool.  I had to guess at the measurements, but I am happy with the results.  This is one of the cards Judy and I will be making this afternoon.

Hope you like it!

Supplies:
Stamp Set - Awash with Flowers
Card Stock - Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White, Cottage Wall DSP
Ink - Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence
Other - Old Olive poly twill ribbon (retired), Scallop Border Punch, Paper Piercer, Colour Spritzer

Happy Father's Day

This is the card I made my dad for Father's Day.

I used the now retired Sweet Pea Designer paper and the soon to retired Taken with Teal - I think this may be the first time I have used that colour as more than just an accent layer on a card.  I have seen similar layouts on the various blogs, etc. I visit so can't give credit to any one person.

Supplies
Stamp Set - All Holidays
Card Stock - Taken withTeal, Basic Black, Whisper White, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack

More Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist

Although the Simply Stamping 2 online class is now over, I am still making some of the projects.   It is not too late to sign on for the class - Heather keeps them up for a long time.  Check Heather Summers' blog  for more details.

The project Heather presented on day 18 (of 20) was for 5 different 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" cards using two of the new colours being introduced in the new Stampin' Up! catalogue (release date is July 1st) - Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist.

So far I have only made one of the cards, but hopefully I will be able to get myself back to stamping before too long.

We even decorated the inside of the card!

My Digital Studio (again)

One of the projects Heather Summers presented in her online class, Simply Stamping 2, was a Family Favourites Recipe book using My Digital Studio.  I have decided that I am going to collect my favourite recipes and create a book so that I have them all in one place.  I plan to take a photo of each and do a two page layout for each recipe.

I happened to have a photo of one of the recipes I like to have on hand so I created the following two pages.  I may change the background paper - one of the great things about MDS is how easy it is to make a change.

Heather Summers' Simply Sunday Sketch Challenge

Heather is back with her Simply Sunday Sketch Challenge.  Check out Heather's blog to see her sample and as an added bonus, this week she has given the dimensions for her card.

This is the sketch
I have been participating in Heather's online class, Simply Stamping 2, and decided that I would adapt one of the projects to this sketch.  I am also using some of the new products from the catalogue that will be released on July 1st.  With the colour renovation there are a lot of colours permanently retired, but the new colours are fantastic!

The card uses my favourite Awash with Flowers stamp set teamed up with Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight (two of the new colours).  I also used some of my 1 1/4" black striped grosgrain ribbon.  Hope you like it.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Awash with Flowers, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Black, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight
Other - 1 1/4" Black Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Modern Label and Word Window punches, Scallop Trim Border punch, stampin' dimensionals

My Digital Studio

Amongst the daily projects Heather Summers posts for her online class, Simply Stamping 2, she posts little challenges.  For the second colour challenge the colours were Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Old Olive.
She also posted an alternate palette using Rich Razzleberry rather than Melon Mambo.

I knew I wanted to participate in the challenge, but I just could not figure out what I wanted to do.  I finally decided to turn to My Digital Studio and do a 12 x 12 layout.  I took the same layout (even the same photos) and did two pages - one for each of the colour palettes.

Sweet Scoops - Card #2

This is the second card I made using the Sweet Scoops set.  Like the first one it is from Heather Summer's current online class.  This card can be used as a gift card holder.

Don't you just love that little bowl of ice cream?  It is made using the Ornament punch and then punching a sliver off using one of the oval punches - I used the wide oval for mine.

This is the inside of the card with a gift card in place.  There is lots of room on the whisper white layer to write a note.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Sweet Scoops
Card Stock - Whisper White, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel
Ink - Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Other - Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, ornament punch, 1/2" circle punch, circle punch from Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, white gel pen, dimensionals, sponge daubers

Motorcycle

Heather Summers posted a card on her blog using the Motorcycle single stamp from the summer mini catalogue.  I had purchased the stamp not really knowing what I was going to do with it but figuring that at some point with all the male members in my family I would be able to use it for a masculine card.  Heather's post was my opportunity!  I followed her layout, but decided to use Real Red cardstock instead of the Brilliant Blue in her sample.   I am so pleased with the result and will use the card for my niece's husband when we celebrate his birthday next weekend!

I have stamped the inside of the card.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Motorcycle, Sanded, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Basic Black, Going Gray, Real Red
Ink - Basic Black (classic and craft)
Other - Black embossing powder, Real Red brads, dimensionals, punches (word window, 1 1/4" circle, 1/2" circle, circle from Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, designer label), sponge dauber

My Digital Studio and Memories from Florida

It seems all I have been doing lately is play with My Digital Studio and make scrapbook pages.  Amazing - I am not a scrapbooker!

I had been going through some photos on my computer in the hopes of getting them organized and I came across several pictures of pelicans.  It reminded me of a day in Florida when we decided to go looking for pelicans - they are such funny birds.  So ungainly on the ground but very graceful in the air.  The pictures I chose for my page are all ones of pelicans who seemed to be totally aware that the cameras were out.  It just appeared that they would wait for us to set up a shot and then they would quickly turn their backs on us.  This happened more than once on the same day and we laughed about it a lot.

So I put those pictures into one 12 x 12 page - everything is layered onto Whisper White.

Fifth Avenue Floral

I have finally finished this card.  It has been in progress for a couple of months now.  I had the image panel finished but just could not decide how I was going to incorporate it into a card.  Finally I came up with something that I am happy with.

The image panel is from one of the projects in Heather Summers' Simply Stamping online class.  The rose from Fifth Avenue Floral was stamped three times onto watercolour paper.  Each image was coloured in (I still have a lot of practice to do) and then cut out.  The pieces were layered using dimensionals to give some height.   The finished rose was adhered onto a layer of very vanilla, then pale plum, perfect plum and elegant eggplant.  The very vanilla satin ribbon was made into a bow secured with a button and linen thread.

For the card, I inked up the Very Vintage jumbo wheel with pale plum and wheeled it onto pale plum cardstock and then mounted the image panel with dimensionals.  The greeting was stamped onto very vanilla and layered onto pale plum, perfect plum and elegant eggplant.

Supplies
Stamp Set - Fifth Avenue Floral, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Watercolour paper
Ink - Perfect Plum, Pale Plum and Elegant Eggplant
Other - Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, dimensionals, Aqua Painters, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Button Latte, Linen Thread

Sweet Scoops

The first project Heather shared with us on her Online Class (Simply Stamping 2) uses the adorable Sweet Scoops stamp set.  There were 3 cards,  treat holder and a cone holder.  I have made 2 of the cards and hopefully soon will make the other one as well as the two holders.

Check out Heather's blog for more details on how to sign up for her class - it is not too late!

This is the first of the cards I made - including the inside!  I don't usually decorate the inside, but more and more as I visit Heather's blog as well as the many others I enjoy,  I have seen that it is the trend now.

So here is my card - don't the ice cream cones look good enough to eat?

Supplies
Stamp Set - Sweet Scoops
Cardstock - Pink Passion, Whisper White, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip
Ink - Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Other - Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, dimensionals, Trio Flower punch, white gel pen, sponge daubers
