Flower Pot Card - Kind & Caring Thoughts
Tuesday, August 18, 2009
Stamp: Dasher
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate
Other: SU Scallop Border Punch
I made the next card for the upcoming anniversary of my brother in law and his wife. I had seen a card on Patty Bennett's blog HERE (one of the swaps she received at convention) and used it as my inspiration. I really like how it turned out.
Stamp: Non SU
Card Stock: Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Old Olive, Pink Pirouette (retired)
Ink: Cameo Coral (Craft)
Other: Top Note Die for the Big Shot, Simple Flower Embosslit, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Clear Embossing Powder, Brass Brads, Stardust Gel Pen
My brother in law's birthday is coming up very soon so I pulled out the trusty Lovely as a Tree stamp set. I think it is the most used set I own. I saw THIS card and made a few changes to use supplies I had on hand.
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, It's Your Birthday, Sanded
Card Stock: Kraft, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Antique Brass Brads
Yesterday, Judy and I made the following two cards. I am determined to use up as much as I can of my retired DSP (and I do have a lot) and when I found THIS card and THIS card I knew it would be a good start. I plan to make multiples of both cards to have on hand, but I will also make some gift packs as well.
This card also uses retired DSP. Don't you love the little flower pot made with the Tab Punch? The original card had a background layer that had been stamped and embossed. I chose to use DSP.

Second Post Today
I'm Back
My parent's wedding anniversary was last Sunday and I wanted to make a simple, clean card for them. I used the SU Cheers to You stamp set for the images. The greeting is a nonSU stamp.

Altered Lunch Tins
This is Judy's tin - very classy I think. A couple of weeks ago we had done a One Sheet Wonder using the Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp set. Judy had not used her 8 1/2 x 11 sheet yet and decided that she would use that for the upper half of her lunch tin. She used Urban Oasis DSP for the bottom section. I love it. The flowers were made using the Simple Flower Embosslit (exclusive to Stampin' Up) and the leaves using the Little Leaves sizzlit (also exclusive to Stampin' Up). Rhinestone Brads in the centres of the flower and a bit of the gorgeous grosgrain was all that was needed.
Recipe:
Card Stock - Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Urban Oasis DSP
Ribbon - Old Olive 5/8" grosgrain
Other - Rhinestone Brads, Simple Flower Embosslit, Little Leaves Sizzlit
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had decided to use Raspberry Tart DSP and I chose one of the bolder designs from the pack. This gave me license to really embellish my tin. I teamed it up with Rose Red cardstock, felt flowers from Flower Fusion and Flower Fusion II and leaves cut with the simple leaves sizzlit. Although a lot busier than the clean lines of Judy's tin, I love this one too! I cut the letters using a cuttlebug alphabet die set.
Card Stock - Rose Red, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Old Olive, Raspberry Tart DSP
Ribbon - Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain, Rose Red 1/4" Grosgrain, Old Olive 1/4" polytwill (retired)
Other - Rhinestone Brads, Felt Fusion, Felt Fusion II, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Simple Flowers Embosslit

Echoes of Kindness (Raspberry Tart)
I decided that this was the layout I liked and although I did CASE both cards, I made a few little changes to make it my own. Instead of using the half pearls or brads, I used dewdrops and then I placed the ribbon near the bottom. All supplies Stampin Up except where noted.
Stamp Set - Echoes of Kindness (level 3 hostess); Oval All
Paper - Kiwi Kiss; Watercolour; Regal Rose; Whisper White; Raspberry Tart DSP
Ink - Regal Rose; Kiwi Kiss; Regal Rose Marker; Signo White Gel Pen
Ribbon - Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin
Other - Robin's Nest DewDrops; Dimensionals; Sponge Dauber; Scallop Oval punch; Mini Glue Dot

The Happiest and Saddest of Times
I saw this layout on someone's blog the other day (unfortunately I can't remember whose). I liked the simplicity of the card, and I needed to use some of those jumbo grommets I had been hoarding from the mini catalogue. Although I have not matched the colour exactly to the colours on the invitation, I have come pretty darn close!
The stamp set, ribbon and grommet are all from the Occasions Mini catalogue that expires at the end of June.
Stamp Set - Very Versatile
Card Stock - Shimmery White, Lavender Lace
Ink - Lavender Lace
Other - Designer Hardware (Jumbo Grommet), 5/8" Whisper White Satin Ribbon, Wide Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch
Although I generally have a few cards on hand, they are usually more suitable for birthdays, get well or thinking of you. I had nothing in my stash that would be suitable for a sympathy card. I made this card and will make a few more similar to it to have on hand just in case. I saw this birthday card on the blog Diane's Designs and decided to CASE it to make a sympathy card.
Stamp Set - Thoughts and Prayers
Card Stock - Kraft, Always Artichoke, Manchester DSP
Ink - Always Artichoke
Other - Ribbon - Kraft Taffeta, Wide Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by

Thoughts and Prayers
Instead of using the strip of Baja Breeze cardstock and button, I decided to use the 1/4 inch white grosgrain ribbon and a Kiwi Kiss button. I used one of the sentiments from the Thoughts & Prayers set, but used my marker to select only the Get Well Soon part of the phrase - I even used my Stamp a ma jig!
Recipe (all SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp Set: Thoughts and Prayers
Card Stock: Whisper White, Old Olive, Cameo Coral
Inks: Old Olive and Cameo Coral Markers
Other: 1/4 inch White Grosgrain Ribbon; Button Bouquet (Kiwi Kiss), Pearls (Michael's); Scallop Border Punch, dimensionals, Big Shot, Stamp a ma jig, Nestabilities (Spellbinders)

Mini Note Cards & Tote
The current InColours will be retiring soon (June 30) but I decided I should perhaps use some of the older already retired InColours.
I also stamped the outside of the envelopes and made a cute little tote that holds 4 cards and their envelopes perfectly
Stamps - Fresh Cuts, Merci
Card Stock, Ink and Double Stitched Ribbon - Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Groovy Guava, Purely Pomegranate (All retired), Fresh Cut Notes

Manhattan Flower, Fifth Avenue Floral and More
This is the boxed set. I put all six cards in a clear acetate box and then attached the Happy Birthday greeting and the flowers so that they covered the images on the card below.

This is her birthday card. I used Patty Bennett's template. I CASE'd Caroline Lebel's dress card (see her post of May 9). I love the addition of the little purse! I decorated the envelope with a strips of Pink Pirouette CS, Raspberry Tart DSP and Rose Red ribbon.
Card Stock: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette (textured), Raspberry Tart DSP
Other: Rhinestone Brad, Rose Red Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch, Round Tab punch, Small and Large Oval punches
I signed up for the Spring UStamp hosted by Heather Summers and Dawn Raspas. One of the projects was a one sheet wonder using the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. The flower images were randomly stamped on a sheet of Whisper White and then it was cut into sections to incorporate into a set of cards. The project instructions included 5 cards and a lovely box. I decided to do six cards and not do the box. I think this will make a great set of cards for my sister.

Mother's Day Card
I stamped the envelope and just to really tie in the floral theme on the inside of the card I stamped one of the flowers very faintly in the middle of the poem. I think it was just what the card needed. You can't see it very well in the photo above, but here is a close up.
Stamp Sets - Fifth Avenue Floral, Terrific Tulips (retired). The Happy Mother's Day greeting is from Stampendous.
CS - Baja Breeze - textured, Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Urban Garden DSP
Inks - Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

I participated in Heather Summers' online classes - Simply Punches and Simply Punches 2 and when I was invited to a baby shower with a safari theme I just knew I had to use some of the ideas from those classes.
Can you guess what SU punches I used? I used a non-SU punch for the giraffe's antlers and the Cuttlebug 'At the Beach' cut and emboss set to make the palm trees.
I think it turned out great!
CS - Garden Green, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, Riding Hood Red, Going Grey, Summer Sun, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink - Basic Grey, Close to Cocoa, Black Stampin Write Marker, Signo Gel Pen
This card is for our great-nephew's 10th birthday. We had decided to get him a gift card from
This card opens from the top and the gift card tucks right into the ribbon on the inside of the card.
I used the Cuttlebug 'Doodles' embossing folder to make the icing and then sponged it with close to cocoa ink and painted on some Shimmerz (non-SU) to highlight the swirls - I could have used dazzling diamonds but it is for a boy and I thought that might be a bit too much bling for him.
CS - Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Whisper White, Brushed Gold
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa
Ribbon - Chocolate Chip Double Stitched
Thanks for stopping in. Hopefully my posts will become more regular before too long. Mother's Day is on the horizon so I need to get crafting!

Before I left home I signed up for a swap hosted by Marie Kirkwood. The submissions were to use NEW stamps from the Stampin Up Idea Book & Catalogue that was released in January. There were 4 themes to choose from - Get Well, Birthday, Thank You and Sympathy. Participants were to make 11 card fronts (4 X 5.25) that were all the same. These were sent to the host (Marie) and she then sorted them and sent back 11 different card fronts to each participant. The swap out was in February and as I was away mine sat waiting for my return. What a lovely package awaited me.
These are the cards I received.
This is the one I sent in.
