Rustic Cabin

While browsing Pinterest a while back I saw a really cute easel card that was designed to look like a rustic cabin.  There was a link to the designer of the card but unfortunately it was no longer an active website.  I did find the new blog but unfortunately there were no details.  You can see the original HERE

I decided I was going to make the card for Judy and have had it ready for a few weeks now but couldn't post it until I gave it to her.

Here is the front of the card

and a view from the side

This is definitely not a card to pop in the mail.

Gold and White Cards - Final

This card is the last one in Andrea Walford's series of Gold and White "glammed up" cards.  You can see Andrea's card and view her video HERE.

I don't have the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack that Andrea used so I used a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Vellum I had on hand.  Although I am happy with my card I prefer the vellum Andrea used with it's more subtle background.  If I were to make this card again I would just use a strip of the striped vellum as opposed to the 4" x 5 1/4" piece I used on this card.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Jolly Greetings
Ink - Versamark
Card Stock - Whisper White, Gold Fancy Foil Vellum
Other - Gold Embossing Powder, Christmas Greetings Thinlits, Stars Collection Framelits, Gold Sequin Trim, Rhinestones, Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

Gold and White Cards - 4

The fourth card in the series used the Winterland Wonderland Designer Washi Tape.  The gold Washi Tape I had on hand worked fairly well on my card.  The gold foil doily makes a great mat for the snowflake that was cut out using the Circles Collection Framelits.

Gold and White Cards - 3

The third card in Andrea Walford's series of "glammed up" Holiday Cards used the Winter Wonderland Designer Washi tape in the Holiday Catalogue which I don't have.  I remembered that I still had some retired gold washi tape from a few years ago (can't remember the name) so I pulled that out and was very happy with the result.  The only stamping on this card is "Christmas" from the Jolly Greetings stamp set.  The word merry was cut out from the coordinating Christmas Greetings thinlits.

Gold and White Cards - 1

Recently Andrea Walford at Sunny Stampin'  offered a bonus online class for those who had subscribed to her SUO Christmas Card Class - 2015.  All four cards in the series were gold and white.  Andrea had posted a video on 9 Ways to add Glam to your Holiday Cards HERE and the cards in the class were all based on those techniques.  She also posted a card and video for a fifth card.  You can it HERE.

I don't have the Washi Tape or Vellum that Andrea used but I did have some substitutes in my stash of goodies so I used them and am very happy with my cards.

This is the first card I made - Andrea had used a strip of vellum from the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack.  I didn't have that but I did have the Gold Fancy Foil Vellum from the annual Catalogue so I used that.

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of November 30

This week's challenge was to create a card based on this sketch:

Just before I had seen the challenge I had seen THIS card posted by Tami White.  I decided that her Rudolph the Red Nosed Penguin would be the focal point of my entry for the challenge.

Although not identical to the sketch it is pretty close.  The brick wall panel was also something I had seen on Tami's blog.  I swiped the raised side of the Brick Wall embossing folder with Early Espresso ink and then ran it through the big shot onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamp Set - Snow Place, Festive Fireplace, Christmas Messages (retired)
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Garden Green, Memento Black, Pumpkin Pie Marker
Card Stock - Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Early Espresso, Gold Glimmer, Red Glimmer, retired DSP
Other - Circle Collection Framelits, Festive Fireplace Framelits, Hearth and Home Framelits, Tree Builder Punch, 1/4" Circle Punch, Brick Wall Embossing Folder, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals, Googly Eyes

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of November 23

Last week's challenge posted by Crystal was to create a card using either the circle or oval collection framelits.  The card had to include the colours Pool Party and Lost Lagoon as well.

I did a search on Pinterest for Pool Party and Lost Lagoon and was amazed at the number of cards out there that included both of these colours.  The one I decided to CASE was one posted by Brian King - check it out HERE.  I love the little bit of green along with the two shades of blue.

I covered the snowflake with Whisper White Craft Ink, sprinkled it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and then heat set it.  I added an iced rhinestone to add a bit more sparkle.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Flurry of Wishes
Ink - Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White

Woodlands

When I first saw the Woodlands Embossing folder in the 2015 Holiday Catalogue it didn't register with me that this was something I was going to need.  As more and more samples hit Pinterest and various blogs I follow I quickly realized that I better order it.  By the time I placed the order the item was backordered and I was pretty far down the list.  The folder finally arrived a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't wait to get a card made.  Most of the cards I have seen used the beautiful stand of pine trees in the Wonderland Stamp set but I used the single pine included with the Lovely as a Tree stamp set.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Lovely as a Tree, Festival of Trees, Versatile Christmas
Ink - Soft Sky, Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler
Card Stock - Whisper White, Mossy Meadow

Fun Fold

Kimberly Van Diepen recently shared a cute fun fold card she had made and her post included a video on how to make the card.  Check it out HERE.  I decided to make mine using the cute penguin from the Snow Place stamp set.  I also used the coordinating framelits to cut out the hat and tie.

Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Old Olive, Merry Moments DSP

Let it Snow

I recently ordered the Stampin' Up! bundle that includes the Window Framelit and the Happy Scenes stamp set.  Unfortunaely the framelit is on backorder but I did receive the stamp set.  I saw a card posted by Peggy Murwin and had to CASE it.  You can see Peggy's card HERE.  I copied everything but instead of using glitter I used some Stickles glitter glue and added an Iced Rhinestone to the centre of the snowflake element.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Happy Scenes
Ink - Soft Sky, Mossy Meadow
Card Stock - Whisper White, Soft Sky

Another Pillowbox Treat Holder

For this snowflake pillowbox I used pretty much all retired Stampin' Up! products.  I used one of the white pillowboxes I had cut, stamped it with the three sizes of snowflakes from the Endless Wishes stamp set (retired), added a bit of Washi Tape (retired) and a long retired felt snow flake that I embellished with a large rhinestone (retired).

Christmas Treat Holders 3

For this treat holder I went back to one Judy and I had made last year.  It had been shared on Mary Fish's blog - you can find it HERE.  There is also a video with the steps to make the treat holder. Mary's sample holds one Ghiradelli chocolate square but we wanted it to hold two so we cut the card stock a little longer and scored it so that there was a little over 1/2" between the two lines.

I decided to use the penguin from the Snow Place stamp set and cut him out using the coordinating Snow Friends Framelits.  The penguin's tie and candy cane are from the same sets.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Snow Place

Inky Divas Weekly Creative Challenge

This week's challenge was to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) a card and post it to the Inky Divas Facebook page along with a link to the original card.

My card is one I found on Peggy Murwin's blog HERE.  There were no dimensions or directions but I did see in the comments that Peggy had followed directions posted by Julie Davison HERE.  I followed the directions for the card dimensions as the score lines but adjusted the placement of the cut line.  Rather than using Julie's measurement of 1 1/2" my cut line is at 1".

Card closed:

Inky Divas Weekly Challenge - Week of October 26

This week's challenge was to create a winter themed card using vellum and at least one of the colours Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate and Cherry Cobbler.

My card uses Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate with a little Basic Black card stock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.

I stamped the trees onto the vellum panel using Versamark Ink and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.  I then ran it through the Softly Falling embossing folder to add a little texture. Behind the vellum is a Smoky Slate panel.  I stamped the single pine tree using Lost Lagoon ink. The vellum panel was adhered with glue dots.  They do show through so I added some rhinestones and snowflakes to cover them.

Using the Sleigh Ride edgelits I cut the houses from Lost Lagoon card stock and the horse and sleigh from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.

Ink - Lost Lagoon, Versamark

Christmas Treat Holders 2

This is a second pillowbox I amde using my eCutter.  I do like the snowman but I think he may be a bit big for a table favour.

Christmas Treat Holders

I have started playing with ideas for treat holders to use as table favours and to have on hand for little gifts.  In the 2015 Holiday Catalogue Stampin' Up! included a square pillowbox die.  Although I didn't buy it, I was intrigued with it.  The finished box is about 4" square and the package of dies includes several dies to cut out embellishments.

I thought a pillowbox would be a great treat holder but a 4" square box would be too big for what I wanted so I decided to see if I could create my own using my Silhouette Cameo eCutter.  I did have a pillowbox in my downloads but it was not a square but I was able to resize it to create a box with a finished size of 3" x 3" - a perfect size to hold two Ghiradelli Chocolate Squares.  I was able to cut three boxes from one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" card stock.

The first one I made is a "Santa".  Pretty quick to make and I think it will make a great little gift or table favour.

Stampin' Supplies
Card Stock - Real Red, Black Glimmer Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper
Other - Silhouette Cameo eCutter, 1 1/4" Square Punch, 7/8" Square Punch (nonSU), Owl Builder Punch (buttons)

Note - when I make more of these Santa boxes I will probably reduce the size of the belly band to 3/4"; the silver buckle will be punched with the 1" square punch and the black insert will be 3/4" square.

Inky Divas Weekly Challenge - Week of October 19

This week's challenge was to create Fall or Halloween Card Candy.  For those of you who aren't familiar with Card Candy - it is simply elements that can be attached when making cards.

I decided on a Halloween theme for my entry.  There were no restrictions on what Stampin' Up! products could be used - current/retired.  I used a combination of current and retired products including My Digital Studio.  All of the elements have been attached with repositionable adhesive so could be easily removed to add to a card front.

Once all of the elements had been adhered to the background piece I packaged it in a cellophane bag and attached a topper.  Sorry for the glare - no matter what I did I couldn't get a good photo.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Teeny Tiny Wishes, Merry Everything, Mingle All The Way (retired), Fall Fest (retired)
Ink - Memento Black, Pumpkin Pie

Sheltering Tree

This is another card I on World Card Making Day.  I wanted to see if I could create an Autumn card using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.  Overall I am happy with the card but there are a few things I might change if I were to make it again - for sure I would not smudge the ink!

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of October 12

This week's challenge was to create a card using one of Stampin' Up's decorative masks and to include punch art.  I had seen THIS card on Pinterest and decided to recreate it using punches for the pumpkins rather than stamps and framelits.

I am quite happy with my little ghost in the pumpkin patch!

Time to Chill

I love the little penguin in the Snow Place stamp set.  I have borrowed that set along with the coordinating framelits from Judy for a little bit.  When I saw Connie Babbert's card a few days ago I knew that I would be CASEing it.  You can see Connie's card HERE.

I totally copied Connie's card except for the "iceberg" the penguin is standing on.  Rather than using Whisper White card stock,  I used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  Love it!  I don't have the Washi Label punch so I improvised the look by using a deckle edge blade in my rotary cutter.

Merry Moments

Some of my most favourite cards are clean and simple.  I saw THIS card posted by Brian King and knew right away that I wanted to copy it.  I had the card stock, the DSP and the Enamel Dot embellishments but I didn't have the stamp set.  I looked through the sets I do have and although there were many that might have worked I decided to create the greeting in My Digital Studio (retired).  I used the Alphabet Soup punches and then resized the phrase to fit the card.  Although I selected Real Red as the colour, it looks more like Cherry Cobbler.

Watercolour Wings

I wanted to make a card using some of the DSP I received in the product share I purchased.  I saw THIS card when I was searching for cards using the Go wild DSP.  I did like it a lot with that choice but I wanted to use a piece of DSP from the Everyday Chic papers.  In the photo the doily does not show up as well as it does in person.

World Card Making Day - October 3

Yesterday was World Card Making Day and although I did make a card but forgot to post it.  So here it is:

While tidying up in my craft room I found a partially made card featuring the Bokeh technique.  I decided to use that for my card. Using VersaMark Ink I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.  I then adhered it to my bokeh panel with mini glue dots and covered those up with rhinestones.  The whole panel was then added to the Blackberry Bliss card base.  I wish I had done a Lost Lagoon layer between the focal panel and the card base but I am pretty happy with it.

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of September 28

This week's challenge was to create a card or project using leaves.  There was nothing stating that only current Stampin' Up! products had to be used so I pulled out my retired Autumn Leaves die for the Big Shot as well as the retired Four You stamp set.

I sponged a piece of Delightful Dijon card stock with Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon and Always Artichoke.  After cutting off the strip for the greeting I cut out the leaf shape. I crumpled up the leaf and straightened it out a bit, stamped the greeting onto the strip of card stock and then coated them both with VersaMark.  Once well coated I sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat embossed both pieces.

I probably should have used Delightful Dijon cardstock for the middle layer rather than the Cajun Craze.

Sleigh Ride Edgelits

I have started playing with some of my new stuff from the 2015 Holiday Catalogue.  This card uses the Sleigh Ride edgelits.  The set includes three edeglits - the houses, some trees and a horse drawn sleigh.

For this card I used Watercolour Paper for the background.  I used the Midnight Muse reinker (retired) as I couldn't find my Night of Navy.  I used an aquapainter to pick up the colour and just painted it onto the page that I had already spritzed with water.

Go Wild Birthday - Sister

While I had the Go Wild DSP out I found THIS card posted on Pinterest - I loved the pink and black.  I don't make many square cards and initially was going to adapt it to a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card until I remembered that I had a small supply of square envelopes.

My card is pretty much identical to the original, however I don't have the silver thread that was used and the card was going to be for my sister rather than a friend.  I used one of the Iced Rhinestone embellishments from the 2015 Holiday catalogue for the centre of the large flower.

Go Wild Birthday - Masculine

I was looking on Pinterest for cards using the Go Wild Designer Series Paper.  I was in need of a birthday card for my brother in law and when I saw THIS one I knew it would be perfect for him.   To make the banner piece I cut my card stock to the width I wanted, punched it with the Triple Banner punch making to sure to save all of the pieces.  I stamped the sentiment and placed that panel on the card - trimming to fit.  I then added added the "waste" piece from the punch.

Rather than try to line up all my panels on the card base I cut a piece of Crumb Cake to 4" x 5 1/4", added my elements and then adhered it to the Crumb Cake base.

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of September 21

Julie's challenge this week was to create a Thanksgiving project.  Her sample was a treat box that could be used as a table favour so I decided that is what I would do.  I had seen a project on Becky Robert's website detailing how to made a little favour using the Envelope Punch Board - you can her project HERE.  I had also seen a cute project on Pinterest that looked about the same size and didn't require any DSP.  You can see that project HERE.  I decided to combine the two projects and this is what I ended up with:

I also made one using SU's Linen Thread in place of the ribbon.  Here is a photo of both styles side by side - I like them both.

If using the treat holder as a table favour it could work as a place card as well - just write in the names on the back tab of the folder.

Freshly Made Sketches 204

This morning I decided to participate in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge for this week.  This is the sketch posted on the website HERE.

I had some scraps on my table from a couple of recent projects so I thought I could use some of them to create a card.

I had a little piece of the vellum I had stamped with silver snowflakes left over from yesterday's card and a scrap of Night of Navy cardstock from the stairstep card I posted earlier today.  I also had a scrap of Shimmery White on the table along with the Endless Wishes stamp set.

I wanted a "mailable" card so rather than add a layer stamped with the snowflakes I masked the card base and stamped the snowflakes directly onto it.  I trimmed the Night of Navy and vellum pieces to the size I wanted and used the scrap of Shimmery White to die cut the sleigh.

Stampin' Supplies

Stairstep Card

During the summer I had been browsing on Pinterest and was quite intrigued to find a link to purchase cutting dies coordinating with the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!.  I knew I had to have them as well as the dies to coordinate with Ornamental Pine.  After thinking about it for a couple of days I ordered them and they arrived last week.

I saw THIS card on Pinterest and followed the link to the stamper's website.  I have never done this style of stairstep card before so I decided I was going to give it a try.  The trees on the original card were hand cut - I was so happy to be able to use my new dies.

I'm not sure about the sentiment stamped directly on the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.

Merry Everything

Today's card is a CASE of a card I saw this morning on my upline Josée Smuck's blog.  You can see her card HERE.

Josée used the Holiday Foil Designer Vellum available in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue for her background.  I don't have that but wanted to make this card right away.  I used vellum cardstock and stamped the snowflakes and stars with Encore Silver Metallic ink.  The snowflake stamp and silver ink are both retired items.  The little stars are included in the Jingle all the Way stamp set.  I adhered the vellum panel to the card stock layer with glue dots and then added the rhinestones to the snowflakes to hide the glue dots.

I used Shimmery White cardstock to cut the trees and houses using the Sleigh Ride edgelits.  The house layer is adhered with stampin' dimensionals.  The greeting is stamped with Memento Black ink and is from the Jingle all the Way stamp set.

Christmas in Summer 12

This is another card I saw on Pinterest last year.  The original has some stitching and a bit of sponging on the edges but I didn't do that for my card.  I wish I had as it really added a lot to the look of the card.  You can see the original HERE (you will have to scroll down a bit).

The patterned paper is from the retired Trim the Tree Paper Stack.  I may have to go back to the card and perhaps do a little faux stitching - I just don't see me pulling out my sewing machine to stitch on a card.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Festival of Threes
Ink - Garden Green; Memento Black
Card Stock - Crumb Cake; Crushed Curry; Chocolate Chip (scrap); Trim the Tree Paper Stack
Other - Linen Thread; Tree Punch; Itty Bitty Punch Pack; Stampin' Dimensionals

Inky Divas Challenge - Week of September 13

This week's challenge was to create a fall themed card using brayer and/or sponging techniques.  It's been a while since I picked up my brayer so this was definitely a challenge for me.  I don't know how many backgrounds I discarded during the process.  In the end I am pretty happy with my card.  No falling leaves but I think the colours at least meet the fall theme.

The sky was brayered using So Saffron, Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze.  I sponged the hills with Chocolate Chip.  The sand was sponged with Sahara Sand and Soft Suede.

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps - Wetlands; Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink - So Saffron; Calypso Coral; Cajun Craze; Chocolate Chip; Sahara Sand; Soft Suede; Memento Black
Card Stock - Whisper White; Chocolate Chip; Cajun Craze

Christmas in Summer 11

I decided to duplicate a card I had made earlier (HERE) but used a different die from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits set.  I really like the simplicity of the design and a bonus is that it won't need extra postage to mail it.

Ink - Old Olive
Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler; Whisper White; Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper; Under The Tree Specialty DSP (retired)
